Funeral services for Kevin Austin, 47, of Sheridan, Missouri, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2010, at Worth county high school gym in Grant City, Missouri with Pastor Len Green officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home.
Kevin Austin was born August 25, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri. Kevin was raised in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. He graduated from Sapulpa high school in 1981 and NEO A&M Junior College in 1983. He also attended Park University in Kansas City. Kevin worked in the grocery business for 30 years. He moved to Worth county in 1993 where he owned and operated Country Corners.
Kevin fell in love with the community and considered it his home. He held many positions throughout the area and was the current presiding commissioner of Worth county. Kevin was known for not only his dedication to the community but to the Oklahoma Sooner football team, as well as the Worth County Tigers. Kevin was a friend to many and could always put a smile on everyone’s face. Kevin and his wife are members of Grant City Assembly of God Church.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Charity Austin; his three children, Amber Hoffer and husband David of Abilene, Texas, Hailey Austin of Kansas City, Missouri and Adam Austin of Kansas City, Missouri; parents, Naomi and Dan Whitehouse of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Gene and Clauddea Austin of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandparent, Mildred Austin of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters, Julia Bell and husband Duane of Saint Louis, Missouri, Michelle Morquecho and husband Mickey of Flower Mound, Texas and Gena Kerr and husband Aaron of Owasso, Oklahoma, and stepbrothers, Dannie DeWayne Whitehouse and wife Mary of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Carrol-Dale Whitehouse and wife Nancy of Champaign, Illinois. Kevin was called nephew, uncle, cousin and friend by a multitude of very special people.
