Maxine Wion March 28, 1917-October 18, 2010

Maxine Wion, 93, passed away October 18, 2010 at Methodist West Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
She was born March 28, 1917 on a farm in Union county northeast of Ellston, Iowa to Vincen Lee and Amanda Howard’McConnell. When Maxine was in the fifth grade, she moved with her parents and sister, Doris, to an 80-acre farm northeast of Beaconsfield. She graduated from Beaconsfield school in 1934. After working several years, she met and married Paul Wion on December 25, 1940. Their son, Garry, was born July 15, 1942, and their daughter, Lynne, was born April 26, 1946.
The family moved into Beaconsfield in 1946 after purchasing two buildings — one became their home and the other became their business (garage and Standard Oil service station). She called Beaconsfield home for almost 60 years. She moved to Earlham, Iowa to be closer to family and lived in her own apartment until May 2010 at which time she became a resident at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul, and her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Loren Maggard.
Maxine is survived by her son, Garry (Kay) Wion of Walker, Minnesota; daughter, Lynne (Robert) Waldron of Earlham, Iowa; grandchildren, Bill (Julie) Goodman, Gary Goodman, Aaron Waldron, Eric (Debbie) Wion, Amanda (Brandon) Marsh and Jenni (Eric) Nixt, and great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Jordan, Grant, Tyler, Olivia, Colton and Zoe.
Memorials are to the donor’s choice.
Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr Monday, October 25, 2010, with Pastor Robert Waldron officiating.
Casket bearers were Garry Wion, Aaron Waldron, Bill Goodman, Brandon Marsh, Eric Wion and Eric Nixt. Honorary pallbearer was Gary Goodman.
Maxine was laid at rest in the Ellston Cemetery in Ellston.
