Carl Clarence Davis March 1, 1919 – November 5, 2010

  Carl Clarence Davis was born March 1, 1919 in rural Lorimor, Iowa to Della Alice (Ames) Davis and Elmer Chalmer Davis. He was educated in Lorimor school until he quit early to help support the family. Carl entered the U.S. Army in December 1942, serving until he was honorably discharged in November 1945. 

On July 26, 1944, Carl was united in marriage to Ruby Irene German in Osceola, Iowa. They lived in Ellston and Afton rural areas and then moved to their farm south of Thayer in 1958. Carl was a farmer and raised cattle for many years until his retirement. He also worked for Union county for a short period of time and did carpentry work part-time. 

  Carl C. Davis, 91, of Thayer died Friday, November 5, 2010, at his home in Thayer. Memorial services were Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of Highways 25 and 34 in Creston. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiated. Burial was immediately following the funeral at the Lorimor Cemetery in  Lorimor. Flag presentation was by the Theodore J. Martens Creston Post 1797. Memorials are to be established. Survivors include three daughters, Jean Ann Davis of Cary, North Carolina, Sheri (husband Jim) Shannon of Arispe, Iowa and Janelle (husband Mark) Baker of Diagonal, Iowa; one son, Jerry (wife Marlene) Davis of Fontanelle, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Donella Creveling of Ellston, Iowa and Helen Davis of Lamar, Missouri; brother-in-law, Jack Wilkey of Ellston, Iowa; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and eight stepgreat-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby in 2008; two brothers, Ore and Murel Davis; three sisters, Edna Welling, Lela Peterson and Lila Peterson; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Wilkey, and his grandson, Jason Shannon.
