William “Bill” Clark Jr. March 24, 1939 – November 29, 2010

William ‘Bill’ Clark, Jr., 71, of Creston, Iowa, died at his home Monday, November 29, 2010, in Creston. Memorial services were Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highways 34 and 25 in Creston. Rev. Tom Woodin officiated the service. Burial was at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Military rites were done by Theodore J. Martens Post #1797 of Creston. William ‘Bill’ Clark, Jr., son of William Clyde Clark, Sr. and Laura (Cass) Clark, was born March 24, 1939 in Bushnell, Illinois. He graduated from Bonaparte high school in 1956. On January 30, 1957 Bill joined the United States Army at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He served in France and Germany in field artillery and was a cook until honorably discharged on January 7, 1960. Bill was united in marriage to Sherrill Lee in December of 1960 in Keosauqua, Iowa. They later divorced. On February 21, 1982, Bill married Linda Lea Shum in Bonaparte, Iowa.
Bill worked for lumberyards and construction his whole life. He worked for Country Boys Lumber in Mount Ayr and Albany, Missouri and Spahn and Rose Lumber in Afton. Bill loved to fish, square dance and golf with Linda, eat at S & K Caf??, drive through Green Valley State Park and travel to Branson, Missouri. He was a member of the Methodist church, Cloverleaf Square Dance Club of Mount Ayr and Lakeshore Golf and Country Club in Afton.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Clark of Creston, Iowa; three daughters, Jacqueline (husband Mike) Riddle of Alturas, Florida, Beth Ann Clark of Creston, Iowa and Kristine (husband Nick) Jackson of Des Moines, Iowa; four sons, William ‘Billy’ Clyde Clark III of Des Moines, Iowa, William John (wife Sherridee) Clark of Des Moines, Iowa, Kevin (wife Melissa) Eggert of Clearfield, Iowa and Darwin (Sheri) Eggert of Clearfield, Iowa; one brother, Jim (wife Karen) Clark of Rhome, Texas; two sisters, Lucille Renteria of Pella, Iowa and Cleda Biggs of Fairfield, Iowa; mother-in-law, Florence Shum of Creston, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Sherrie Clark of Pella, Iowa, Janet (husband Jeff) Haley of Grinnell, Iowa and Sandra (husband Dave) Anderson of Rapid City, South Dakota; 16 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura Clark; brother, Richard Clark; daughter, Valerie Sue Clark; grandson, Jordan Clark; parents in-law, Hilding and Evelyn Shum, and two sisters, Wilma Clark and Carley Clark.
