Velda Marie Adams, daughter of Virgil Lee and Mary Dorothy (Cartwright) Harris, was born July 25, 1931 at Diagonal, Iowa. She graduated from Diagonal high school in 1950. Velda married Raleigh Adams and they later divorced. Velda lived most of her life in Mount Ayr. She sold Stanley Home Products and provided home health care for various people.
Velda passed away December 15, 2010 at the Health Care Center in Mount Ayr.
Survivors include her children, Lowell Edward (Tamara) Adams of Fox Springs, Washington, Louie (Heidi) Adams of Hudson, Iowa and Loretta (Randy) Sweet of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Edward Adams, Tahlia Sweet, Noah Adams, Melody Sweet and Emily Adams; two sisters, Alma Harris and Clara McVey of Mount Ayr, Iowa; two nieces, Debbie Ayres and Pam McVey, and other relatives and friends.
Velda was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Connie Sue Adams, and a granddaughter, Connie Sue Adams.
A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.
Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, December 18, 2010, with Rev. Charles Weiman officiating. Pianist was Nancy Sackett.
Casket bearers were Danny Webb, Dennis Huntsman, Debbie Ayres, Pam McVey, Bill Stull and Daniel Stull.
Honorary pallbearers included Edward Adams, Tahlia Sweet, Noah Adams, Melody Sweet and Emily Adams.
Velda was laid at rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
