Rosa May Miller January 7, 1918 – January 16, 2011

 

  Rosa May Miller, daughter of Alice (Owings) Byrom and Marshall Byrom, was born January 7, 1918 at Brock, Nebraska. She lived most of her adult life at Mount Ayr, Iowa. Rose, as she was called, worked hard on the farm and she later worked at area nursing homes, Sunnyslope Nursing Home and Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, before retiring. Rose enjoyed bowling and reading. She loved to fish and was very good at frying up the fish that was caught. Rose loved to visit with company and loved children’s visits. Rose was a recent resident to the Health Care Center in Mount Ayr and she passed away January 16, 2011 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center in Mount Ayr.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Miller; parents, and 12 siblings including Hazel Simms, Vivian Hutton, Sidney Byrom, Gracie Byrom, Vaun Byrom, Wayne Byrom, Leola Anderson, Melvern Byrom, Sylvia Davis, Hurshell Byrom and stillborn twins.

Survivors include her sister, Augusta M. Oldfield and husband George of Papillion, Nebraska; grandson, Robert ‘Bobby’ Miller and daughter-in-law Susan Miller, both of Montrose, Colorado; sister-in-law, Evelyn Byrom of Cameron, Missouri; very close friends, Lila and Jim Overholtzer and Betty and Cecil Davenport, and nieces, nephews and other friends.

A memorial fund has been established to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Services were conducted at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, with Rev. Chris Conklin officiating. Musicians were        Mary Davenport, Margaret Bickers and Andy Trullinger.

Casket bearers included Charley Davis, Gary Davis, David Palmer and Ron Rakestraw.

Rosa was laid at rest in the Sheridan Cemetery in Auburn, Nebraska on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.
