Lowell James Watson November 2, 1925 – Masrch 20, 2011

Lowell James Watson, 85, son of Clyde Wesley Watson and Margaret Jane (Redman) Watson, was born on November 2, 1925 at home in rural Van Wert, Iowa. He passed from this life on March 20, 2011 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa.
Lowell grew up near Van Wert and graduated from Van Wert high school.
He was united in marriage to Opal Oveda Hall on February 23, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa at The First United Methodist Church. Two children were born to this union, Michael Lowell and Patricia Diane.
He worked as a ranch hand, farmer, with General Motors and was owner/operator of L+O Trucking. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War with Honor Guard duty. Over the years he enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage, his Saint Louis Cardinals and his grandchildren. Lowell and Oveda enjoyed traveling over the years which included five cruises.
Preceding Lowell in death were his parents and his only sister, Lois Eddy.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Oveda of Sun Valley Lake at Ellston, Iowa; son, Mike (Tina) of Winterset, Iowa; daughter, Patti (John) Crouch of Clive, Iowa; five grandchildren, J.T., Miah and Mikayla Watson and Michele and Bill Crouch, and other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at the United Methodist Church in Van Wert, Iowa with funeral services to follow at 11:30 a.m. Cremation will follow the services with private burial in the Benton Cemetery. Memorials are to Alzheimer’s Research and the Van Wert United Methodist Church. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.
