William Allen Robertson April 13, 1960 – July 9, 2011
William Allen Robertson was born April 13, 1960 in Koln, Germany. He was adopted by his parents, Edgar and Opal ‘Jeane’ Robertson, May 14, 1961. Edgar was serving with the U.S. Army and the couple was stationed in Germany. William became a citizen of the United States October 13, 1965. Bill, as he was known, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011, at his home in Creston, Iowa.
Bill attended school in Mount Ayr and Diagonal, graduating from Diagonal high school in 1978. He married Diane Mercer August 8, 1981. They became parents of Joshua William Robertson on April 2, 1987.
Bill worked at Wellman Dynamics of Creston and several hog confinements in the area. He liked people and never knew a stranger. Bill loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his son, Joshua of Ottumwa, Iowa; his dad and stepmother, Edgar and Dee Robertson of Fontanelle, Iowa; his sister, Jeanette Abrams, and husband Michael of Naperville, Illinois; brother, Kenneth Robertson and wife Shelly of Des Moines, Iowa; three nephews, Austin and Justin Abrams and Payton Robertson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Jeane Robertson and his grandparents, Elvin and Florence Robertson and Merle and Gladys Reynolds.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Services were conducted at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, with Rev. Skip Rushing officiating. Musical selections were ‘In The Garden’ and ‘How Great Thou Art.’
Casket bearers were Jim Brand, Spencer Lumbard, Raymond Gaule, Robert Mercer, Dick Snethen and Jack Williams.
Bill was laid at rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
