Dale Kettle July 15, 1925 – August 26, 2011

Dale Kettle, 86, of Altoona, Iowa, formerly of Creston, Iowa, died Friday, August 26, 2011, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center in Altoona. Masonic services were Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston near the junction of highways 25 and 34. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Dale Henry Kettle, son of Myrtle Mae (Bean) Kettle and Henry Allen Kettle, was born July 25, 1925 in Ringgold county near Delphos, Iowa. He graduated from Blockton high school. After graduation Dale served his country in the United States Army. Dale was united in marriage to Margaret Rose (Shay) on September 19, 1952 in Saint Joseph, Missouri. They settled in the Blockton area where he farmed raising cattle and hogs. In 1968 they moved to Maryville, Missouri where he worked as a meat cutter for Northwest Missouri State University until returning to Blockton in 1971. At that time he returned to farming. In 1973 they moved to Mount Ayr and he worked for a co-op until moving to Knoxville, Iowa where he began working as an insurance agent. Dale moved to Phoenix and Sedona, Arizona where he worked as a park manager for a mobile home park. Dale returned to Iowa and worked as a condominium manager in Des Moines, Iowa until 1999 when he retired and moved back to Creston. Dale was a third degree Mason for over 50 years at the Bethany Masonic Lodge #320 and was a district lecturer.
Dale is survived by a daughter, Lu Ann Kettle of Des Moines, Iowa and two sisters, Mable Smith of Springfield, Missouri and Jean Haidsiak of Clearfield, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret, in 2009; brother, Byron, and sisters, Mildred and Marjorie.
