Melvin Eugene Doolittle September 20, 1959 – December 6, 2011

Melvin Eugene Doolittle, son of Clifford Dorman and Ethel Arena (Still) Doolittle, was born August 16, 1942 in Nevada, Iowa and passed away at his home in Kellerton on December 6, 2011.
Melvin married Judy Maxine Reed on September 20, 1959 and to this union three daughters were born, Debbie, Penni and Teena.
Melvin enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends, being a member of the Waubonsie Tractor Club and showing off his Empire and A/C WD45 tractors. He loved having his family around at all times. He loved games such as cribbage, pitch and pegs & jokers.
Melvin was a jack-of-all-trades and master of none, but, he was busier than a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest, and, if you couldn’t see it from the courthouse, it didn’t matter. He had multiple jobs — siding applicator, truck driver, roofer, mechanic, laborer and farmer. He made many friends who preceded him in death and survive him in death. In 2010 Melvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ethel Doolittle; brother, Clifford LeRoy Doolittle; father-in-law, Oscar Clifford Reed; sister-in-law, Bonnie Ross; brother-in-law, Jackie Ross, and aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy Doolittle of Kellerton, Iowa; daughters, Debbie (Rod) Holmes of Kellerton, Iowa, Penni Hewlett and friend Dana Hall of Iowa City, Iowa and Teena (Jeff) Hash of Leon, Iowa; son-in-law, Greg Hewlett of Grand River, Iowa; grandchildren, Chad (Jamie) Holmes, Ben (Bessy) Hewlett, Amber (Wes) Richards, Travis (Cassie) Holmes and Aric Hewlett; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Darrian, Kaidan, Traivyn and Cortlynn Holmes, Wyatt, Aryanna and Ahnyka Hewlett and Emma and Jeffrey Richards; brothers, Larry (Beth) Doolittle of Redding, Iowa and Steve (Janice) Doolittle of Kellerton, Iowa; mother-in-law, Loreen Reed of Kellerton, Iowa; sister-in-law, Donna (Marion) Stark of Kellerton, Iowa; brother-in-law, Gene (Cathy) Reed of Ellston, Iowa, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends.
