Shirley Ann Buchanan September 17, 2935 – December 17, 2011

Shirley Ann Buchanan, daughter of Leroy and Thelma Dellinger, was born September 17, 1935 at Hutchinson, Kansas.

Shirley met her future husband, Melvin Buchanan, in Hutchinson. They were united in marriage at Melvin’s parent’s home in Diagonal, Iowa on November 3, 1951. Because of Melvin’s work, the family lived in various towns but Diagonal was always home. Shirley was a very spirited lady who enjoyed life. She enjoyed crocheting and working puzzles. Shirley loved to walk and have coffee with the ladies. She was known to ‘tell it like it is’ and loved a good joke. Shirley was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She will be remembered as a very good cook and for her love of baking. Shirley will always be that ‘dynamite in a small package!’

Shirley passed away on December 17, 2011 at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; baby sister, Karen, and sister, Joyce Storrs.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Teresa Buchanan of Diagonal, Iowa, Karen (Keith) Nichols of Perry, Iowa, Debbie (Dennis) Gardner of Creston, Iowa and Michael (Katherine) Buchanan of Diagonal, Iowa; grandchildren, Brandy (Aaron) Morgan, Timothy Buchanan and Stormie Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cody and Ethan Morgan; a niece, Karen, and other relatives and friends.
