ELIZABETH ADELINE HUNT

ELIZABETH ADELINE HUNT

Elizabeth A. Thompson was born October 3, 1916, to Melvin and Mary (Wells) Thompson.  She passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Worth County Convalescent Center at the age of 98.
Elizabeth attended the Hunt Country School.  She was united in marriage to John Sanford Hunt on February 2, 1935.  Four children were born to this union:  Bill, Susie, James, and Sally.  They celebrated 71 years together.
Sanford and Elizabeth spent most of their married life on a farm in the Redding, Iowa area.  Elizabeth was a stay-at-home mother, always having a large garden and doing plenty of canning.  She had such a “green thumb” with her beautiful flower beds.  Liz and Sanford loved collecting “Cupid” pictures and, at one time, had over 300 of them.  Their children continue this love of collecting “Cupids”.  Liz was an avid bowler in Grant City, always being thrilled if she bowled a “200”.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Sanford; one son, James Hunt; son-in-law, Royce Rinehart; her parents; and all of her siblings:  Mavis, Kenneth, Russell, Howard, Homer, Duane, Madge, Marie and May.
She is survived by son, Bill and wife Pat Hunt of Blockton, Iowa; their children:  Tracy of Ankeny, Iowa; Jay of Mount Ayr, Iowa; and Brian and wife Kristi and their daughter, Hailey of Del Ray Beach, Florida; daughter, Susie Rinehart of Clarinda, Iowa and her children:  Jodi of Ames, Iowa; Derek and wife Mindy and family of Corning, Iowa; and Neeli and family of Clarinda, Iowa; daughter, Sally and husband Mike Hansen of Griswold, Iowa and their children:  Callie and husband Chris and family of Mount Ayr, Iowa; Andrew of Atlantic, Iowa; Josh and wife Katie and family of Granger, Iowa; daughter-in-law Susan Hunt and children:  Austin and Lauren of Kansas City, Missouri; along with 12 great- grandchildren.
Elizabeth had a great love for her family with a special interest in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her journey reflected a dedicated love, hard work and a generous, kind and loving heart. She will be deeply missed, but remembered as a great mom, grandma, and great-grandma.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City, Missouri, with visitation at 10 a.m. prior to Service. Pastor Len Green will officiate.
