DEAN L. GOODMAN

    Dean L. Goodman, son of John and Charity (Garner) Goodman, was born February 16, 1926 at home, west of Diagonal, Iowa.
    Dean graduated from Creston High School in 1944. In 1950, he was united marriage to Anna Rose Bolton in Afton, Iowa.
    Dean worked several years on road construction. He was a mechanic and also operated the machinery paving roads. Dean and Anna Rose raised their children on a farm near Diagonal where he also farmed. Dean had an appreciation of animals and enjoyed his dogs and afternoon time with his cats.
    Dean passed away May 1, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, brother Eldon Goodman and sister Nathena Hayden.
    Dean is survived by his wife Anna Rose Goodman of Diagonal, IA; children Marilyn (Gary) Stephens of Diagonal, IA, Marlene (Larry) Christensen of Greenfield, IA, Don (Laura) Goodman of Glenrock, WY, and Jon (Lori) Goodman of Clearfield, IA; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
    Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Pastor Bill Armstrong officiating. Burial is in the Clearfield Cemetery.
    Casketbearers were Gary Stephens, Lonnie Stephens, Travis Dukes, Josh Skinner, Charles O’Kelley and Coleman Dukes. Honorary Pallbearers were Larry Christensen, Marvin Sobotka, Billy Shields, Dick Hower and Roy Bullock.
    A memorial fund has been established to the Diagonal Community Building.
