LAWRENCE DRISKILL

Lawrence “Tony” Driskill, age 83, of Tingley passed away Sunday, August 16.
Tony was born on July 11, 1932 in Decatur County, Iowa to parents Martin and Evelyn Goodwin Driskill. Tony graduated from Shannon City High School in 1950.
Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force and became an Air Policeman. During his tour in the Korean War, he kept in constant touch with his sweetheart back home, Leona May Sanderson, writing letters to each other every day. After completion of his military career, the two married on June 5, 1955.
After adopting their first child, the couple moved from Council Bluffs to a farm near Creston in 1960 at which time Tony began farming and continued farming until 1987 at which time the couple moved to Tingley. He then worked at Ron Simpson’s farm until his retirement.
To celebrate his life he leaves his wife of 60 years, Leona May Sanderson Driskill of Tingley; two children his son, Lauran Driskill (Cindy) of Afton; daughter, LuAnn Driskill Lowe (Mike) of Lake Ozark, Missouri; brother, Perry “Bill” Driskill (Diana) of Afton; sister, Kay Billeter of Winterset; four grandchildren Donna Driskill Allen (Shawn) of Afton; Dustin Driskill of Creston; Joshua Lowe of Cedar Rapids; Deven Lowe of Cedar Rapids and three great grandchildren, Casey Allen, Chase Allen and Scott Driskill.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Evelyn Driskill and brother Ardith “Art” Driskill.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City, Iowa with Pastor Lila Greene officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Donna Driskill Allen, Dustin Driskill, Joshua Lowe, Deven Lowe, Casey Allen, Chase Allen and Scott Driskill. Gathering and refreshments will be at the Shannon City Community Church following the graveside service.
