E. NADINE DENNIS

E. Nadine Dennis, age 92, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at her home.Visitation will be Monday, Oct 5, at the Liberty Church of Christ, 1401 Glenn Hendren Drive, Liberty, MO from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.   Funeral service was Tuesday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. at the church.  Burial to follow in Mount Ayr, IA, at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Nadine was born April 25, 1923, in Bethany, Mo to Raymond and Eva Selby. She graduated from Bethany High School in 1941. Nadine was baptized into Christ in 1941 and lived her life in His service.

She attended beauty school and worked as a hairdresser, baker, gardener, cake decorator, butcher, donut maker, jewelry designer, author, and seamstress.  Her main passion was caring for her home and family and serving others in countless ways.   

She was briefly married to Albert Burton and bore two sons, Keith and Lynn. She married Ivan Dennis in 1949 and they remained together for 64 yrs.  From this union, two children, Janet and Mike were born.

Ivan and Nadine made their home in Mount Ayr , IA, where they farmed and later managed the Mount Ayr Hotel.  The family moved to Independence in 1964.

Nadine was a delegate to the 1980 Republican National Convention. She was very active in local, state and national political issues that involved women, families and education.

Nadine is preceded in death by her husband Ivan, sons Keith and Lynn, brother Norman, and her parents.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet Richardson, with her husband, John; son, Mike Dennis, with his wife Linda, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Nadine’s favorite sentiment:  “I love you the most!”
