Dorothy Clough, 74, was born September 13, 1941 at Shenandoah, Iowa to Cecil and Mary Hummel Dukeshier. As a result of a bad fall due to the effects of Alzheimer’s, Dorothy became a resident of Clearview Home in Mount Ayr where she passed away on November 13, 2015.

Dorothy married Al Clough on August 6, 1960 at Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. They lived a few years in Creston and Corning before moving to and living on a farm near Lamoni, Iowa for many years. They raised livestock and took great pride in their Charolais cattle and Thoroughbred horses, which they raced at Prairie Meadows and other tracks. She also worked several years at O’Brien’s sewing factory in Leon. She is a member of the Ellston United Methodist Church.

Dorothy loved to play golf and enjoyed the Golden Girls tournaments. She sang at the Tingley Meal Site and loved her garden and flowers. Above all, she loved her children; 5 grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; 7 year old daughter, Carla; and her brother John.

Survivors include her husband Al; daughter Candee (Kirk) Parkhurst of Fremont, MI; son Calvin (Bonnie) Clough of Wichita, KS; son Samuel Clough of Osceola, IA; grandchildren Brett Parkhurst, Hannah Clough, Katie Parkhurst, Mathew Clough and Kara Clough; sister Esther (Don) Welch of Salem, OR and brother Jim Dukeshier of Essex, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services are set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, Iowa with Rev. Bruce Giese officiating. Casketbearers are Brett Parkhurst, Hannah Clough, Katie Parkhurst, Mathew Clough, Kara Clough and John Overholtzer.

There is open viewing at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, November 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are to the Tingley Meal Site and Ellston United Methodist Women. Online condolences maybe left at
