EDDIE EUGENE OVERHOLSER

    Eddie Eugene Overholser was born to Forest and Lucille (Coverdell) Overholser on June 29th, 1949 at their home near Shannon City, Iowa.  He was called home to be with the Lord on March 19th, 2016.  Eddie graduated high school in 1968 from Mt. Ayr High School.  He then went to work for Wilbur and Cleo Lynch farming for several years.  Eddie was united in marriage to Jan Johnson on June 5th, 1971.  Jan was tragically killed in a car accident on September 13, 1971.  He later went to work for Best Refrigerator driving a semi coast to coast.  Eddie suffered from a debilitating stroke in 1982 and lived with his mother so she could care for him.  Eddie entered Clearview Home in Mt. Ayr in July of 1992.  He quickly became friends with Rich Routh and Rich would often take Eddie uptown to activities.  Eddie enjoyed helping his Dad care for their horse and attending parades.  He especially loved attending Clearfield’s 4th of July celebrations.  Eddie had the pleasure of having several nieces and a nephew care for him while he lived at Clearview Home.
    He was preceded in death by his wife Jan; parents Forest and Lucille Overholser; grandparents, Faye and Jeannittie Coverdell and Samuel and Leona Overholser; uncles Dannie, Harold and Kenneth Coverdell and Dean Overholser.
    Those left to cherish Eddie’s memory include sister, Carolyn Reeve, brother, Jerry (Peggy) Overholser, sister, Jeanette (Roger) Todd, brother, Larry (Kim) Overholser, sister, Sherry Overholser; nieces and nephews, Steve (Sharyl) Reeve, Brenda (Sheldon) Comer, Janet Reeve, Lesa (John) Darrah, Katie Constant, Jacob Todd, Rachel (Jason) Worthington, Jeffrey Overholser, Tomie (Amanda) Overholser, Ryan (Cassie) Noble, Stephanie Todd, Jessica (Jesse) Shade, Sonya (Cody) Tharp, Jennifer Overholser, Jessa Ely; aunt, Nellie (Larry) Loury, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial fund has been established in his name to be decided later.
    Services were provided by Watson-Armstrong Funeral home of Mount Ayr with Rev. Skip Rushing officiating.
    Casketbearers were Steve Reeve, Sheldon Comer, Ryan Noble, Jacob Todd, Tomie Overholser and Jeffrey Overholser.
    Honorary Casketbearers were Wendell Jackson, Richard Wheeler, Rod Zollman, Don Zollman, Joe Routh and Don Stephens.
    His final Resting place is in the Benton Cemetery in Benton, Iowa.
