WILLIAM LAWRENCE HANKS

    William Lawrence Hanks was born June 25, 1937 to Otis and Dorothy (Combs) Hanks. He departed this life April 3, 2016 at Clearview Homes in Mount Ayr, Iowa where he made his home for the past eight years.
    Lawrence attended school in Redding, Iowa where he lived until entering Clearview. He worked as a farm hand and for a time at the grain elevator in Mount Ayr. His hobbies included fishing and reading. Lawrence also enjoyed playing cards and there were frequent games at Charlie’s store and at the Hanks household on Sunday evenings. In later years he and Snowball would come to Grant City and stop to play cards, however NOT as partners.
     Surviving are his brother Robert Hanks, sister-in-law Jean Hanks, nephew Philip Hanks and a host of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ilene, 2 infant brothers, and brothers James and Francis (Snowball) Hanks.
    Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Redding, Iowa at a later date.
