EARL EUGENE WOOD

    Earl Eugene Wood, son of James Mitchell and Eva Violet (Seviers) Wood, was born at Mount Ayr, Iowa on April 4, 1929. Earl attended school at Mount Ayr. He would later marry, and he is the father to three children; Gary, Pauline and Ronald.
    Earl was a painter, and he also worked as a fur skinner for Dean Jacobs. Earl later worked as a janitor at the Mount Ayr Cap Factory.
    Earl loved the outdoors. He took his children fishing, and he enjoyed camping. He also enjoyed hunting and spent many days hunting pheasants in Ringgold County. Earl was a collector of knives, toy cars and trucks, swords and belt buckles. He loved his family and will be missed by many.
    Earl passed away at his home in Mount Ayr on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 28 days.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and all three of his siblings; Francis Wood and his wife Mildred, Robert Wood and his wife Neva, Pauline Newman and her husband Gary.
    Survivors include his children Gary Wood of Le Mars, IA, Pauline Wood of Mount Ayr, IA, and Ronald (Amber) Wood of Burlington Junction, MO; 3 grandchildren Kevin, Kasey and Kristy; 1 great grandson; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Arrangements by Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.
    Graveside services were held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, IA at 3 p.m. with Pastor Bill Armstrong officiating. A memorial fund has been established to Ringgold County Public Health.
