DONALD LAVERN CLOUSE

Donald Lavern Clouse was born September 2, 1930 in Ringgold County, Iowa, the son of Cecil L. and Faye (Gardner) Clouse. He passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa, at the age of 86.
Donald grew up in Ringgold County and graduated from Tingley High School in 1948. On September 24, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Drake, in the Tingley United Methodist Church. To this union four children were born: Steve, Cindy, Penny, and Diane. They lived in Ringgold, as well as other Southwest Iowa counties, until 1976 when they made their home in Massena, Iowa. Donald and Juanita loved Massena and were active in the community for forty years. Donald’s entire professional career was in the agricultural industry. He worked in a variety of different positions, including farming, feed sales and Agricultural service positons.
Donald was a member of the Massena United Methodist Church and various square dancing clubs. He enjoyed square dancing and traveled with Juanita throughout the Midwest attending multiple square dance functions. Don also enjoyed playing cards, handyman work, and woodworking, specializing in barn-board crafts. Donald’s greatest joys were his bride of almost 67 years and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Harold Drake.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Clouse; children, Steve (Patty) Clouse of Oklahoma City, OK, Cindy (Rex) Hardie of Council Bluffs, Penny (Jax) Ingham of Lowville, NY and Diane (Mark) Funk of Griswold; former daughter-in-law, Kay Clouse Schirm of Mount Vernon, IA; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Carey of Winterset and Janice (Keith) Reason of Clear Lake, two brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Kay) Drake of Tingley and Tom (Barb) Drake of Hopkinsville, KY; other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Mr. Steve Clouse and Pastor Mark Millikan officiating while Carolyn Groves and Tom Drake provided the music.
Pallbearers were Clayton Funk, Spencer Funk, Brian Funk, Ryan Hardie, Michael Shaw, Phillip Clouse, Patrick Clouse and Taylor Clouse.
Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa with Pastor Bill Armstrong officiating.
