A Soldier’s Story

Submitted by Margaret Sue Dickson Dykman

With the 100th anniversary of WWI, I have been going through the photos and artifacts my family has collected of that period in my Dad’s life. I would like to share his unique story, to remind us all of the sacrifices that many generations of soldiers and their families have made to achieve and ensure the freedom and safety of our precious nation.

How wonderful that your paper re-told my Grandfather’s WWI experience in the community that he was born and raised in over 100 years ago. I am fortunate to have visited my Hunt cousins in Ringgold County last summer. This summer, I again feel connected to that lovely community through your re-printing of the articles about my Grandfather that your paper first published in 1917. Thanks!
