She was born July 12, 1935 at Jackson Corner, Mt. Ayr, Iowa to Clifford and Sarah Ethel (Hunt) Jackson.  Sally was the youngest of eight children in this family.  She attended country school at Rose Hill, graduated from Mount Ayr High School and attended what was then Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri.  She was the homecoming queen her senior year at Mt. Ayr High School and the Southwest Iowa Band Queen.  She taught in the elementary school in Redding for a year before she married Charles Sedgewick in Maloy, Iowa.
Sally was an active member of St. Patrick/St. Anthony Catholic Church.  She enjoyed playing cards (cheating), pampering her poodle, traveling, walking, playing bridge and dominoes, and cooking homemade noodles and tenderloin with milk gravy.  Sally taught school for many years in the Detroit school system. She remembered riding her horse, Benedict, to school as a young girl and ended her teaching career driving her beloved Mustang sports car.  Most of all she loved her family and spoiling her grandchildren.  She will be missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; their four children:  Jim (Pat) Sedgewick of Grand Haven, Michigan, Dr. Jeff (Roya) Sedgewick of Great Falls, Virginia, Sandra David of Denver, Colorado, and Elizabeth (Dan) Brownell of Hastings, Michigan;  nine grandchildren:  Stephanie and Rachel Sedgewick, Justin, Brandon and Elizabeth Sedgewick, Austin and Kathryn Davis, and Emily and Luke Brownell;  sisters-in-law Catherine (George) Weatherford, Carmeta Jackson and Hazel Jackson;  brother-in-law Joseph (Patricia) Sedgewick; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Evelyn James, Opal Barnett, Dorothy Jensen, and Mary Faith who died in infancy, and her brothers James Jackson, Delbert Jackson and Joe Jackson.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 18 2017, at St. Patrick/St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Charles Schwartz officiating.  Visitation was August 17 at the VanZantwick Chapel in System Funeral Home in Grand Haven, Michigan with a rosary at 5 pm.  Interment was at Lakeshore Cemetery.
Sally was Iowa born but Heaven sent.
