BYRE LEE POUSH
Byrle Lee Poush was born August 1, 1939 to Robert and Marie (Scott) Poush in Lamoni, Iowa. The family moved throughout the Midwest with sister, Roberta Sue joining them in 1943. The family eventually settled in Mount Ayr. Byrle attended the local school and graduated from Mount Ayr Community School in 1957. He attended Central College in McPherson, KS and graduated in 1960.
Byrle was in the Army and served as a private and a medic working in the meningitis unit. This work influenced his career choice and after two years working as a barber, he returned to nursing school at California State University in Los Angeles and received both his bachelors and Masters in Nursing.
Byrle married Mary Tedrow on October 7, 1962. They were blessed by the gift of one child, daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth, born June 8, 1971. Byrle and Mary later divorced but continued to be strong and loving co-parents to their daughter.
Byrle passed away on February 8, 2018, from complications of lymphoma. He was a man of great intelligence, wit and compassion. He will be missed greatly.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Marie, stepmother, Mary, brother-in-law, Doyle Campbell, stepbrother Jerry Richards and stepsister, Jeanine Richards.
Those left to remember him include his daughter, Rebecca Kalyn, son-in-law, Joe Kalyn, grandson Kristian Trujillo, sister, Roberta Campbell, step-sister, Jane Richards, step-brother, John Richards, aunt, Virginia Scott and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside memorial is planned on August 1, 2018 with details pending.
