The role of railroads in the early development of Ringgold County was highlighted by historian Mike Avitt on the Ringgold County Historical Tour on Saturday May 5.

    My grandfather was EF Pettet and I remember celebrating thanksgivings and christmases at the old depot he and my grandmother lived there when he was agent she used right side of the building for home and left side for guests with he infamous rollaway bed as grandkids we played ticket agent in the back office area it was a half way point since we moved to ottumwa summer of 57 when they moved from st joseph also that same summer to mount ayr seemed there was some merger or change of railroad issues at that time my dad was agent st the hamburg depot until summer of 56 you mentioned that depot in article also
