ROENA FAYE DREDGE
Roena Faye (Reynolds) Dredge was born May 15, 1932 to Merle and Gladys (McCarty) Reynolds. She was united in marriage to Junior Dredge on July 31, 1948. To this union four children were born Duane Allen, Donna June, Dawnette Jean and Dan Arion.
While living on the farm Roena enjoyed having a large garden and canning her produce in the fall. She enjoyed her house in town which she and Junior moved to in 2002. She took great pride in her flowers and was always willing to plant more. They enjoyed Christmas Eve every year and having the house full of kids and grandchildren. There was always a pot of coffee for whoever would stop by. On Sunday they would travel to Redding to listen to country music. Roena passed away June 1, 2018 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Duane (Meredith) Dredge, Donna (Dick) Elliott both of Mount Ayr, Dawnette (Danny) VanLaar of Winterset and Dan (Aimee) Dredge of Monroe; grandchildren Leslie Dredge Murphy (Jared), Clint (Allison) Dredge, Adam (Katrina) Dredge, all of Mount Ayr, Morgan Dredge of Des Moines, Dennis (Sammi) Elliott of Benton, Brad (Abby) Elliott of Mount Ayr, Matt (Alyssa) VanLaar of Ames, Ryan VanLaar, Tyson VanLaar, Drew (Stacey) VanLaar all of Winterset, Tyler Dredge and Nicholas Dredge of Monroe; great-grandchildren, Rhett and Zachary Murphy, Colton and Adley Dredge, Adalynn and Tarynn Dredge all of Mount Ayr, Maci and Cameron Elliott of Benton, Alice and John Elliott of Mount Ayr, Taytum and Teagon VanLaar of Ames; sisters Ramona Brand of Mount Ayr, Dorothy Campbell of Fremont, Neb.; sister-in-law Shari Reynolds; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Junior on March 31, 2015; parents-in-law Arlen and Arzetta Dredge; brothers John Reynolds in infancy, Burl (Delores) Reynolds, Frank Reynolds, Ronald Reynolds; sisters Jean (Edgar) Robertson, Ginger (Raymond) Gaule; brothers-in-law Clyde Brand and Dick Campbell.
Services was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Officiating was Rev. Melvin Ammon.
Special songs were “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Precious Lord Take My Hand”. Musicians were Debbie Cannon and Simply Voices.
Casketbearers were Leslie Dredge Murphy, Clint Dredge, Adam Dredge, Morgan Dredge, Dennis Elliott, Brad Elliott, Matt VanLaar, Ryan VanLaar, Tyson VanLaar, Drew VanLaar, Tyler Dredge, and Nick Dredge.
Roena was laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Memorials will be established in her name to be decided at a later date.
