CORA LOVENA PIERICK

Cora Lovena (Hall) Pierick, 82, daughter of Albert Milton and Cora Amanda (Fertig) Hall, was born August 19, 1935 at home in rural Ringgold County, Iowa. Lovena grew up in Benton, Iowa. She was a great basketball player and top student. She graduated from Benton Community High School in 1953.
Lovena moved to Des Moines to work for NW Bell Telephone. She met Richard Lyle Pierick and they were married on June 29, 1956. Four children were added to this union; Raymond Lyle, Kenneth William, Ryan Keith and Jenine Diane. Richard worked as an Engineer and they were transferred to Kansas City and then later to Minneapolis, where they raised their family. They were privileged to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary June 29, 2017.
Lovena was a Boy Scout Den Leader and fundraiser and a school teachers assistant. She enjoyed all sports, music, dancing and playing cribbage. She liked gardening, cooking, baking and sewing. She enjoyed family fun time and the annual sister’s cruises. Lovena was a loving mother and devoted friend. She retired from JCPenney Accounting.
Lovena passed away June 23, 2018 at North Memorial in Crystal, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, oldest son, Raymond Lyle at age 29, brothers; Albert (Buster), John, Lowell and Jerry, sisters; Viola, Alberta (Toots), Eloise and Oveda.
Survivors include three children; Kenneth Pierick of Las Vegas, Ryan Pierick of Minneapolis and Jenine Pierick of Minneapolis, grandson, Dalton Ray Hall, granddaughter, Samantha Nichole Pierick, sisters, Glenda Marlow and Linda Gayle Liljeblad, brother-in-law, Donald Liljeblad, sisters-in-law, Estelle Hall and Arnita Gail Hall, special nieces, nephews and longtime friend, Marie Loribieki.
A visitation will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, August 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Benton Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.com.
