ANNE HOLLAND

Anne Louise O’Neal Holland died peacefully in her sleep November 4, 2018. She was born in Afton, IA on June 28, 1935 to Leonard and Ruby O’Neal.
A loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Anne is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Holland, her son, John Gregory, her parents, Leonard and Ruby O’Neal, brothers, Alan, her twin, and Jon O’Neal, and sister, Marion O’Neal.
She is survived by daughters, Jennifer Griffis and husband, Craig of Seguin; Rebecca Holland of West Des Moines, IA; son, Thomas Holland of San Antonio; daughter-in-law, Emily Chatagnier Holland of Thibodaux, LA; grandchildren, Chris Callaghan of Seguin; Ruben Holland of Ames, IA; Meghann Holland of New Orleans, LA, Caroline Phillips and husband David of Jefferson, LA, Stephen Holland of Thibodaux, LA, Samantha Steffens of Wildwood, FL; Amy Holland of Des Moines, IA; great-granddaughter, Eloise Phillips of Jefferson, LA; sister, Helen Weeda and husband, Donald of Tingley, IA.
Anne grew up a farm girl and worked hard all of her life. In high school, she was the state basketball free-throw champion and her team went to Iowa state finals in 1952, playing 6 X 6 girls basketball. She was a long-time registered nurse and worked for many years at (then) Guadalupe Valley Hospital. After retiring, she enjoyed gardening; training and showing quarter horses with her husband and grandson, sewing and numerous crafts.
A private family service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018.
