BARBARA KAY REYNOLDS

Barbara Kay (Main) Reynolds was born December 24, 1934 to Elma E. (Stephens) Main and Weldon C. Main in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1952.
After graduation Barb was united in marriage to Richard Lee Reynolds on July 20, 1952 at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Barb and Dick welcomed five children into their family, Andrew Lee, Brenda Kay, Daniel Alan, Shelly Rae and Lori Ann. At 44 years of age, Barb sought a new career and attended nursing school at Southwestern Community College in Creston in 1978. During that time, she also worked as a waitress at Ruth’s Café and as a CNA for Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, holding down three shifts and claiming straight A’s for her academic achievement.
After finishing school, Barb worked as an LPN At Ringgold County Hospital before moving to Casper, Wyoming where she worked for Casper Medical Center for nine years in the nursery department. Barb returned to Mount Ayr and RCH to complete her career, retiring at the age of 75 years old. Barb loved nursing from the tiny infants, who left the hospital sporting lovingly crocheted baby caps to the elderly who she gave patience and compassion. Barb made sure she gave each patient her attentive care, kind and soft mannerism and she genuinely loved that she could see new miracles into the world and provide comfort and help with healing for her all her patients. She was a busy nurse, never leaving a job undone and she was a busy wife, mom and grandma in the life she was most passionate about, her family.
Gbarb as she came to be known, had too many who claimed her as theirs to name, but she was happy to serve in that  role to any who came through her door. She was a huge Raider fan in all sports, following and supporting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Mount Ayr Community School sports. As a big Raider fan, Gbarb came to love many of the players as her own grandchildren, sure to take time to give a pat on the back, a hug or a high five.
Barb was a talented crafter, crocheting, knitting, sewing, building and creating beautiful gardens of both flowers and produce. She had set a goal to plant one last garden this Spring and was looking forward to canning the fresh vegetables for her family and friends. Giving…would describe this lady completely. She gave of her time, her energy, her talents, her money but most of all, she gave of her heart to everyone she met. Gbarb memories will live on forever.
