SHARON MARIE CASE

Sharon Marie Case, daughter of Vern Kenneth and Marjorie Marie (Waddell) Priest, was born at home in Lamoni, Iowa on September 24, 1943. Sharon was delivered by her grandmother, Bertha Hammond Waddell. Sharon started school in Lamoni; went to country school for one year south of Decatur, Iowa; and attended high school in Shannon City and Kellerton. Sharon graduated in 1961 from the newly formed Grand Valley Community School in Kellerton. After graduating from high school, Sharon worked at the Places Store in Mount Ayr and Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.
On July 31, 1965, Sharon married Charles Rolland Case. To his marriage was born three children: Darrel Justin Case on June 1, 1967, Lywanda Lynn Case on October 30, 1970, and Travis Alan Case on October 18, 1974. In 1965, Sharon and Charlie moved to Tingley. In addition to being a housewife and mother, Sharon drove a school bus for five years; worked in the school lunchroom for one year; and then she worked the next 20 years at the Tingley Congregate Meal Site. Sharon was active in special functions at the Tingley Meal Site. She served on the Tingley City Council for four years as well as serving on the sight council for the meal site. Sharon was a member of the Tingley Christian Church. Sharon had diabetes for 35 years and because of that, she started kidney dialysis in September 2014.
Sharon became a resident of the Mount Ayr Health Care Center and she passed away there on February 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Marjorie Priest; step-father Wayne Warnke; parents-in-law Vaughn and Betty Case; grandparents William and Gertrude Priest and Charles and Bertha Waddell; son, Travis Case on February 8, 2002; daughter-in-law, Tami Sue Case; brother, Kenneth Dale Priest.
Survivors include her children, Darrel (Dana) Case of Tabor, Iowa and Lywanda Case of Mount Ayr; grandchildren, Joshua (Abbey) Case, Zachary Case, Travis Alan Case, Jr, Dacia Leytham, Emily Perkins, and Trevor Perkins; three step-great grandchildren, Naveah, Payton, and Bryon Jr; daughter-in-law, Tammy Case of Council Bluffs, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established to the Tingley Meal Site. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.com.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February16, 2019 at the Christian Church in Tingley, Iowa.
Officiating was Rev Al Rusk.
Pianist was Virginia Walden. Special songs were “Amazing Grace” and “I’ll Fly Away”.
A luncheon followed the service at the Tingley Meal Site.
Burial will be at a later date at the Tingley Cemetery in Tingley, Iowa.
