HELEN MAXINE SCHARDEIN

Helen Maxine (Thompson) Schardein was born November 10, 1920 in Worth County, MO to Leslie Earl Thompson and Gladys Opal (Combs) Thompson. Helen Schardein passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. Open visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.
Helen graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1936. Helen was united in marriage to Earl Adam Schardein on June 15, 1940. Helen was a business owner in Mount Ayr, owning and operating her insurance company and abstract office.
Helen was very active in her community from being a member and treasurer for the United Methodist Church, Chapter CK P.E.O., Legion Auxiliary Member and Bridge Club.
Left to cherish Helen’s memory are her sister, Jean (Dale) Grout of Riverside, CA; nephew, Richard (Sherry) Grout of Tigard, OR; niece, Laurie (Ron) Kemp of Vista, CA; cousins, Michael (Gloria) Combs of Mount Ayr, Vance Combs of Cape Girardo, MO, Lilian Rinehart, Helen Marie Combs, Carl Edman, Donna Mae Hiatt, Donald Dean Combs and Cleda Blanche Miller; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Earl, in 1991.
Officiating will be Rev. Melvin Ammon.
Hymns will be “In this very room”, “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”.
Musicians will be Debbie Cannon and Simply Voices.
Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
