A total of 43 graduates will receive diplomas at Mount Ayr Community High School Sunday, May 19 at 3 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
Graduates include Hunter Arends, Timothy Asleson, Andrew Belzer, BrieAnn Byrd, Cade Clymer, Joshua Cox, Tucker Darrah, Amber Davison, Connor Eaton, Myles Greene, Quentin Gregg, Abbigail Haley, Nathan Hauge, Hunter Haveman, Chase Henry, Jacob Hoveland, Gabrielle Hunke, Hannah Jackson, Keirston Klommhaus, Ryann Martin, Tyler Martin, Caroline McAlexander, Jessica McCreary, Samantha McGill, Emma Mobley, Trevor Stone Dade Osborn, Alex Popelka, Jentri Ruby, Samantha Schaefer, Elsie Schafer, Lanie Sheil, Noah Shelman, John Shields, MacKenzie Shields, Tiril Sjoberg, Chase Smith, Kylee Smith, Trenton Stull, Connor Swank, Zachary Thurman, Hayley Whittington, Drew Willis, and Kyan Wise.
Valedictorian Samantha Schaefer and salutatorian Emma Mobley will deliver the keynote addresses at this year’s commencement.
The Mount Ayr Class of 2019 chose the Gerber daisy as their class flower and black, white, and red as their class colors. “Chase your dreams, but always know the road that’ll lead you home again” has been chosen as the class motto.

Diagonal Community Schools and the Mount Ayr Community Schools will hold commencement exercises for their 2019 graduates this weekend.

Nine members of the Diagonal Class of 2019 will cross the stage Friday, May 17, with ceremonies beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the south gymnasiaum.
Graduates include Sofia Cifarelli, Alee Haidsiak, Joshua Lohmann, Caitlyn McLead, Genna Naill, Emily Newton, James O’Connor, Ean Paxson and Bailey Taylor.
The 2019 valedictorian is Emily Newton with Alee Haidsiak earning the honor of salutatorian. Both will deliver remarks during the ceremony.
The keynote address will be delivered by Jennelle Sobotka.
The DHS Class of 2019 has chosen electric blue as their class color and the Gerber daisy as the class flower. For their motto, the class has chosen the comical “It turns out we’re smarter than we look.”
