SHARON KAY MICHAEL

Sharon Kay Michael, 72, of Shannon City passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Sharon’s wishes were to be cremated and no funeral services to be held. Burial will be at a later date at the Murray Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the family. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is handling arrangements. Sharon Kay Conklin was born April 30, 1947 in rural Adams County, Iowa on her family’s farm. She graduated from the East Union High School in 1966.
After she graduated, she worked at King’s Restaurant in Creston as a waitress and later moved to Des Moines continuing to work for King’s Restaurant at their Des Moines location. In 1974 she was united in marriage to Mike Michael. She traveled with him during his military service to California, Midway Island, Rhode Island and Illinois. They divorced in 1980 and Sharon moved to Thayer on her parent’s farm. Sharon began farming until she moved to Shannon City in 1995. She continued taking care of animals by getting orphaned sheep and nursing them back to health. Sharon continued doing this until 2014 when her health no longer allowed her to continue.
Left to cherish Sharon’s memory are her brother, Charles Conklin of Shannon City. She was preceded in death by her parents.
