CECIL JOHN STEVENS

Cecil “John” Stevens, 69, of Creston died Saturday, June 08, 2019 at EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 34 and 25 in Creston. Pastor Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Flag Presentation by the Theodore J. Martens Post 1797 of the Creston V.F.W. Family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday. Cecil John Stevens was born August 6, 1949 in Creston to Roy Leslie Stevens and Paige Darlene (Coulthard) Stevens. He attended school in Bridgewater, Prescott and graduated from Creston in 1969. John served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for Hills McCanna, later Wellman’s as a Core Maker for over 20 years. John was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Lodge # 1398 of Creston.
Survivors include his son, Tone Stevens, of Creston; four sisters, Barbara White of Sherman, Texas, Linda Hill of Urbandale, Darlene (husband Bryan) Cook of Diagonal and Janet (husband Frank) Young of West Des Moines and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.     Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David, in 2014 and his brother-in-law, John White.
