LETHA MAY TODD
Letha May Todd, daughter of Arthur and Pearl Cora (Brown) Reed, was born at Peaburg, Colorado on May 16, 1943.
Letha graduated from high school and attended beauty school. She worked as a beautician for a short time of her life before she utilized her love for sewing to become a seamstress. Her grandmother taught her how to sew and she worked in garment factories in Monett and Pierce City, Missouri. Letha loved to quilt and created many heirlooms that will be treasured by the family. Letha also worked a couple of years for Tyson Foods. Over the years, she would grow a big garden and she loved to can the produce.
Letha was united in marriage to Ray Todd on October 7, 1995 at the Tingley United Methodist Church. Letha was a loving mom and grandma and will be missed by all of them.
Letha passed away suddenly on the evening of June 20, 2019 upon arrival to the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Betty McKelvy; her only sibling, Arthur Reed; and her father-in-law, Lyle Todd.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband. Ray, of Mount Ayr, Iowa; four children, Buford McKelvy of Colorado, Reggie (Janet) McKelvy of Texas, Audrey Gilliam of Missouri and Becky (Robert) Harris of Nevada; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Doris Todd; sister-in-law, Lois (Al) Ibbotson; brother-in-law, Roger (Jeannette) Todd; other relatives and friends.
Per Letha’s wishes, she has been cremated and no services are scheduled. She will be interred at a later date in the Tingley Cemetery in Tingley, Iowa. Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.
