The Ringgold County Conservation Board is participating in the Monarch Watch tagging program and needs the community’s help capturing Monarch butterflies to tag.
Join RCCB on August 31 from 10-11:30 a.m. to investigate the life cycle of a Monarch butterfly, discover how to identify male and female Monarchs, study Monarch migration and learn how to tag Monarchs on their journey south to central Mexico.
RCCB will provide butterfly nets to catch your own butterfly for this free family friendly event.
Participants will meet at the Shady Oaks (enclosed) Shelter at Fife’s Grove Park north of Mount Ayr which offers unique prairie walks and butterfly habitat.
Please wear long pants even if it is hot. Tennis shoes/socks, sunscreen, hats and a water bottle are all recommended.
