The Mount Ayr and Bedford school boards met in joint session September 11 to set the time table for hiring a new superintendent to serve both districts.
Current shared superintendent Joe Drake has announced his intention to retire following the conclusion of the current school year.
Present at the meeting were Mount Ayr board members president Brandi Shay, Kim Lutrick, PJ West and Craig Winemiller as well as Mount Ayr board secretary Janette Campbell.
Representing Bedford were president Jack Spencer, Mike Irvin, Joe Murphy, James Johnson and Rodger Ritchie along with Sharon Hart, board secretary.
Trent Grundmeyer, of the Grundmeyer Leader Search firm gave an overview of his company and walked both boards through the process that would help both districts find a shared superintendent.
Grundmeyer presented following timeline for the Superintendent search:
Oct. 14 – Nov. 10 Stakeholder survey open
Nov. 22 – Dec. 31 Application period
Jan. 8 – Board reviews candidate pool (closed session at 6 p.m. in Mount Ayr)
Jan. 22 – Board screens candidates (closed session at 5 p.m. in Bedford)
Feb. 6 – Formal interviews with finalists (at Mount Ayr)
