To the editor:
I read Psalm 104 and this is what I gleaned from it. I call it “God’s resume.”
God is clothed with honor and majesty. He made the sun, to give her light by day, the moon to shine at night, and all the starry host of Heaven for mankind’s benefit. He made the mighty seas and set boundaries that they would not rise above those boundaries, He made the rivers and natural springs for water for the wild beasts, and all marine life. He walks on the wind (it says so in His Word!)
He sends the rain, sunshine and clouds, to water and warm the earth, He uses through the seasons to grow the grain, fruits and vegetables for our daily use and consumption.
I would like to outline ALL of the wonderful benefits that we as a people enjoy, God’s gift to us:
TREES: We have trees for shade and shelter, we can build a bonfire, make furniture, and harvest all sorts of fruits and nuts for food. The birds make their nests in them, the wild animals lay down for shelter from sun and weather.
SOIL: He made fertile soil to grow grasses, grain, trees, He made rocky soil which gives us minerals and precious metals to make machinery and utensils of all manner and make. The earth abounds in precious gems for jewelry and adornment of all types and description. He made the earth full of petroleum to use in machinery, fuel for heating our homes and buildings, and fuel engines and motors.
ANIMALS: God made the animals, great and small, wild and domestic for our use and pleasure. They serve us in our work (and play), and are a source of food and energy.
THE SEASONS: Winter—A time of dormancy for all vegetation, and rest for the soil to prepare for the coming season. Snowfall for moisture, pleasure, and protection of root material from harsh temperatures.
Spring—Bringing forth new life, budding and blossoming, beauty for all to enjoy.
Summer—A new season of growth, food and grain, a time for enjoying the great outdoors, warm evenings, cool mornings, dewy lawns, beautiful sunsets, and myriads of pleasures for all to enjoy.
Fall: Beautiful foliage, dormancy of vegetation, a rest period for all of nature. A time of harvest of the plenty that God has provided, and a time of THANKSGIVING for a wonderful, sovereign God and Master of this Universe in which we reside.
As we approach the Thanksgiving Holidays, let us all by thankful to this Majestic, wonderful, marvelous, loving God for all that He has provided in this MARVELOUS UNIVERSE in which we reside!
