Ehlen takes first, Raiders place ninth overall in Central Decatur

The Raider wrestling team traveled to Central Decatur for the Dan Christenen Invitational.
The Raiders placed ninth overall with 98 team points.
Winning the meet was Red Oak, followed by Van Meter/Earlham and Mid Buchanana to round out the top three.
In the 106 pound slot, Drew Ehlen (10-1)placed third, defeating Chase Crawford (CD) and Gunnar Guffey (Wayne) to start things off, but fell to Townsend Dawson of Davis County in the semifinal. Ehlen went on to defeat Clancey Woodward (Mid-Buchanan) and Brandon Erp (Red Oak) to take third.
In the 113 pound slot, Jarrett Webb (5-5) placed sixth. Webb fell in the quarterfinal to Wyatt Cunningham of Mid-Buchanan. Webb then defeated Drake Hamm of Davis County in the consolation round before falling to Chase Shandholm of Red Oak. In the fifth place match, Webb faced Cunningham once more, but fell to take sixth.
Payton Fleharty (5-5), in the 126 pound slot, received a bye to start off the day before falling to Jakson Cobb of of Wayne. Fleharty then fell to Jackson Westemeier of Waterloo West and Gerald Rupe of Davis County.
Trae Ehlen (10-1) took first place in the 138 pound weight class. Ehlen defeated Amarreon Sykes of Waterloo West in the first round. Ehlen would go on to take the top spot after defeating Ryan Fees (Panorama), Cole Knight (Waterloo West) and Dominick Dicesare (Martensdale-St. Mary’s).
At 152 pounds, Keaton White (7-5) placed fourth. White won his first two matches againt kael Wirst of Panormama and Devin Schall of Martensdale-St. Mary’s before falling to Chase Davidson of Mid-Buchanan. White would then defeat Daniel Gekpoah of Waterloo West before falling to Barrett Bonnett of Albia to finish fourth.
At 170 pounds, Seth Shelman (3-2) placed fourth. Shelman won his first two matches by fall against Mitch Kayser of Waterloo West and Jaxson Cornett of Central Decatur. Wade Stanton of Mid-Buchanan defeated Shelman in the semifinal before Shelman pinned Aden Woolard of Mid-Buchanan. Burce Lukehart proved too much for Shelman in the third place match to give Shelman fourth.
Andi Gonzales (6-6) won his first match of the day at the 182 spot, over Journey Anderson of Central Decatur. Gonzales would lose the next two to Owen mann of Southeast Warren and Gavin Shaw of Albia before he defeated James Robinson of Mid-Buchanan. Gonzales would finish out his day with an eighth place finish after falling in the seventh place match to Dakota Boswell of Central Decatur.
