To the editor:
I am, and hope all of you are, offended by the sight and sound of a 73 year old man attacking a child, 16 year old Greta Thunberg on Twitter.
What did she do this time to become the target of Trump’s bullying? She was named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” — an accolade close to Trump’s heart after he won it in 2016. Note: Despite the fact he has never had the courage to put his life on the line by military service, he believes that he should be awarded the Medal of Honor and he would like the Nobel Prize, too. .
Standing next to him in her $4,000 dress, Melania, who has made ending cyberbullying her main initiative, said nothing of the nasty Tweets that her husband has directed at a minor child. It does seem ironic considering the fact that she is married to the foremost online troll.
When Barron Trump’s name came up in a pun in an impeachment hearing, Melania reacted angrily in a tweet, “a minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics.”
I agree but what about Greta, doesn’t she deserve being kept out of politics? In the end, as adults and as Christians, we know that children need to be loved and protected, that “bullying is not courage, bigotry is not patriotism, vulgarity is not authenticity, and mocking cruelty is not unbridled fun.”
Maybe it is if you are not on the receiving end and a vulnerable child.
