A Bud Light corporate van collided with a semi-trailer at the east entrance to the Casey’s General Store Thursday, January 2. According to the accident report from the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office, the semi operated by Oscar Kent, 60, of Lucas was preparing to exit the Casey’s parking lot making a left hand turn to travel west on Highway 2. Kent did see the van driven by Vance Frueh, 57, of Ottumwa coming from the west traveling east. Kent believed Frueh was turning north; therefore Frueh continued east on Highway 2 resulting in the collision. Both vehicles came to rest in the traveled portion of Highway 2. Kent and an unidentified passenger refused medical treatment and the semi was able to drive away. Frueh was removed from the scene and flown by air to Mercy in Des Moines. Kent was cited for Fail to Yield Upon Entering Through Highway. Assisting at the scene were the Ringgold County Ambulance Service and Mount Ayr Fire Department.
