Dr. Jill Biden, former Second Lady of the United States and wife of former Vice President Joe Biden, made a campaign stop in Mount Ayr Sunday, January 12 at Jamie’s Coffee Mill and Deli in support of her husband’s candidacy for the Democrat nomination in the upcoming presidential election. Speaking to a group of approximately 20 individuals, most of whom are current or former educators in the Diagonal and Mount Ayr schools, Biden emphasized her own career as a teacher, interspersing personal anecdotes with reasons why she feels her husband is the best choice of Democrats heading into the caucus/primary season. In the hour-long visit, Biden personally visited with each person present and posed for pictures prior to traveling to Winterset for the last stop on her four-county swing through southern Iowa.
