Three more wins for the Raiderettes improved them to 10-2 on the season, downing Southwest Valley and Central Decatur, snapping a 64-game win streak the Cardinals had against Pride of Iowa teams, as well as a non-conference game against Murray Monday night.

The Raiderettes defeated the Southwest Valley Timberwolves 64-37 after a monster second quarter held the Timberwolves to four points.
Headed into halftime, the Raiderettes led 34-17.“Our girls played great tonight,” said coach Thad Streit. “We have never questioned their effort and their enthusiasm and tonight was another example of that. We had a great second and third quarter to bust it open.”
At halftime, Sam Stewart had 22 points, outscoring the entire Southwest Valley team on her own.
The second-half was another store, as they held Stewart to two points throughout the third and fourth, with her ending the game leading the team with 24 points.
Rachel Sobotka and Channler Henle stepped it up to close-out the game, with Mount Ayr outscoring Southwest Valley 23-10 in the third. The Timberwolves did outscore Mount Ayr 10-7 in the fourth but it was not enough to bridge the gap.
Sobotka finished the game with 17 points, whereas Henle finished with 11.
“I am so proud of them and how they handle each game,” said Streit. “Now we have to get ready for a huge conference game on Thursday.”

The Raiderettes, hot off their win over Southwest Valley, travelled into hostile territory in Leon for a matchup against the Pride of Iowa powerhouse Central Decatur Cardinals.
Central Decatur, having won the POI Conference title multiple years in a row had not lost a game to a Pride of Iowa team in 64-straight games.
In fact, the Raiderettes had not defeated Central Decatur since the 2010-11 season, when the Raiderettes went 23-3 and defeated the Cardinals twice.
“What a great game!,” said coach Streit. “Once again our defense stepped up tonight. We had girls step up big time and helped us get this win.”
A fast-paced, low scoring affair saw the first quarter end with Mount Ayr up 10-5.
Multiple lead changes throughout the first half kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
The Raiderettes went into halftime leading 25-14.
Central Decatur came out and erased that lead fairly quickly but the Raiderettes battled it out and held on, outscoring the Cardinals 19-14 for a 44-28 lead.
Sam Stewart, was taken out of the game for quite awhile as she was sitting at four fouls. Coach Streit wanted to keep her for the fourth if they needed her.
Once again, other girls stepped up with Channler Henle and Rachel Sobotka getting into foul trouble sitting at four in the second half and with Sam Stewart sitting with four herself for most of the fourth. MaKayla Jones, who finished the night with the second most points on the team with 10 really stepped up to help out the team as well as Maddie Stewart who saw nine points in the win while Jaycee Knight scored seven.
Sam Stewart still led the Raiderettes with 19 points scored in the victory.
“To think we did this with Rachel and Channler sitting most of the second half with foul trouble,” said coach Streit. “ And Sam sitting a long time in the fourth quarter with her fouls. A great team win tonight.”
