ON TO STATE! Four wrestlers qualify for State Tournament

Last Saturday, the Raider wrestlers competed at districts in Pleasantville for an opportunity to make an appearance at ‘The Well’ in Des Moines.
106- Drew Ehlen (37-2) was first on the mat for the Raiders. Ehlen faced 28-14 Devon Luing. Ehlen won by fall and would face Noah Strohmeyer (29-9). Ehlen defeated Strohmeyer, pinning him after 4:35 to advance to State.
Ehlen will face Paul De Long (29-4) of North Mahaska – New Sharon in his first apperance at state wrestling.
113 – Jarrett Webb (24-17) was up next for Mount Ayr and faced Kale Munson. Webb lost by a 14-2 major decision. Webb won his next match against Curtis Gliem by pin in 20 seconds to take third place.
120 – Bryce Shaha (24-2) faced Dominic Degeneffe in his first bout of the day. Shaha won by fall after 3:07. Shaha would then face Jarryn Stephens. By a decision of 4-3, Shaha punched his ticket to Wells Fargo.
Bryce Shaha will face Drayven Kraft (28-14) of West Sioux – Haywarden at ‘The Well’.
138 – Trae Ehlen (38-4) faced Dominick Dicesare in his first match. Ehlen won by a decision of 4-2 to advance to the championship round against Cyden Fitch. Ehlen won by a 2-1 decision to head to the State tournament.
Ehlen will face Blake Mann (35-13) of BGM – Brooklyn to begin his day at State Wrestling.
145 – Jaydon Knight (25-6) faced Avery McCloud to begin the day. Knight won by fall in 3:01 but fell to Connor Golston in the championship round. Knight then faced Kitt Lundy and won by a 5-2 decision to take second and advance on to State.
Knight will face Cael Rahnavardi (39-4) of Don Bosco-Gilbertville in his first ever appearance at Wells Fargo.
220 – Donovan Morales (23-14) faced Blake Haub in his first match, but fell in 20 seconds. Morales would then face Colton Willis but fell in 51 seconds to take fourth.
For those that cannot make it to Wells Fargo the wrestling tournament will be broadcast on the radio at KSIB out of Creston and KMA out of Shenandoah as well as broadcast on MC22 for Mediacom Cable customers.
Class 3A will be live at 3:30 p.m., while Class 1A and 2A will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 21.
On Sunday, a complete replay broadcast will be shown at 6 p.m. on MC22.
