The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has requested Iowans returning from a country where novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is spreading to voluntarily self-isolate for 14 days following their return. Areas in this travel notice currently include (but may be subject to change with this ever-evolving situation):
• Italy
• Japan
• South Korea
Public health authorities, in accordance with the President’s Task Force on Coronavirus are mandatorily monitoring travelers from:
• Iran
• Mainland China
“I’d really like to emphasize the importance of reaching out to your healthcare provider and sharing concerns if experiencing respiratory symptoms including fever, cough, or shortness of breath,” added Ringgold County Public Health director Becky Fletchall. “This discussion will allow further evaluation of the need to test for influenza, which continues to circulate in our community, as well as evaluating for risk of COVID-19.”
