The United States is facing the worst public health crisis in perhaps a century, and the Mount Ayr Record News wants our readers to know we are here to serve you throughout the crisis.
Since 1864 the Record News has helped Ringgold County cope with wars, depressions, and natural catastrophes. We’ve also helped Ringgold County celebrate great victories, chronicled the achievements of local residents, celebrated births and helped mourn deaths.
It is our intent to keep Ringgold County citizens informed so they know how their community is managing the crisis–from local government institutions to businesses and medical facilities, from churches and schools.
It is our duty to keep the community informed of financial resources available to keep businesses afloat; sources of food for those who may be facing hunger, and supportive mental and physical health resources for all.
We also take seriously the duty of this newspaper to educate our friends and neighbors on this new disease and how to avoid and fight it.
At the same time, the Record News is thrilled to tell the story of neighbors serving neighbors–a community coming together to give each other strength to persevere through a crisis.
Now, more than ever, reliable reporting and credible news sources are needed. Don’t believe every scary Facebook post or rumor. Don’t spread gossip you don’t know to be factual. Trusted news sources, like the Mount Ayr Record News, are now more important than ever.
Together, we can meet the challenge and a stronger Ringgold County will emerge.
When you’re on your own, we are there with you…just like we have been for the past 156 years.
