Bruce Ricker, D.O., is honored with the Life Service Award from the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association. The purpose of this award is to recognize those osteopathic physician members of the Association who have spent the greater part of their lives delivering health care to Iowa’s citizens, utilizing osteopathic practice and principles. In addition, they must have been active members of the Association and represented and modeled the highest ideals of the profession to their community.
Dr. Ricker is a graduate of Des Moines University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his rotating internship at Phoenix General Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice with a certificate of added qualification in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. He is currently in private practice in Mt. Ayr and is the medical director of Hospice of Central Iowa in Mt. Ayr as well as the Clearview Nursing Home and Mt. Ayr Health Care Center.
His colleague writes, “I have watched Dr. Ricker’s practice grow, the number of clinicians and healthcare providers have grown because he has actively been involved in recruitment to provide healthcare in rural Iowa. He does what rural physicians do, he has done it well, and he continues to provide quality osteopathic health care to the citizens of southwest Iowa”
