Area churches have announced plans for their Christmas Eve services.
Main Street Christmas
The United Church of Diagonal is hosting “Main Street Christmas,” a drive-up Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. December 24 at 209 Broadway.
Everyone is invited to park their cars and enjoy a special service and accompanying music.
Participants are also asked to turn on a flash light or cell phone light for the closing song, “Silent Night.”
Tingley Christmas Eve
An outdoor Christmas Eve service is planned for December 24 beginning at 6 p.m.
Attendees will read the Christmas story and sing “Silent Night” while holding glow sticks.
The plan is to keep the service to about 20 minutes.
Anyone who’s not a fan of the cold may pull up and stay in their cars. Social distancing, masks and hot cocoa are all highly recommended.
Shannon City
The Shannon City Community Church will hold a candlelight service beginning at 7 p.m. December 24.
Wishard Chapel
Wishard Chapel Church is having two Christmas Eve candlelight services on December 24 at 5:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
First Christian
The First Christian Church in Mount Ayr is planning its Christmas Eve service at 5:30 p.m. Attendance is by reservation.
Mount Ayr Methodist
Christmas Eve services at the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church will be held outside this year.
The public is invited to gather on the east side of the church at 5 p.m.
Trinity Lutheran
The Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church in Mount Ayr will hold its Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m.
United
Baptist-Presbyterian
The Christmas Even service at United Baptist-Presbyterian church in Mount Ayr will begin at 5:30 p.m.
