The Mount Ayr Fire Department responded to 81 calls for service in 2020, according to Fire Chief Mike Wimer.
Wimer said that the department responded to 12 structure fires and also were called out 12 times on a structure fire call that turned out be be a false alarm.
The most calls the department responded to were grass fires, being called out 15 times.
Here are the nature of the other kind of calls the department responded to:
• Six vehicle fires.
• Five accident calls without extraction.
• Four accident calls with extraction.
• Nine hazmat calls.
• Two service calls.
• Five rescue calls.
• One hay fire.
• Seven EMS assists.
• Three storm calls.
