Iowa Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg will make two stops in Ringgold County today (Thursday) as part of his 99-county tour.
First, Gregg will stop by Werner Feed Efficiency Testing Center located at 1954 180th Street in Diagonal at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Werner Feed Efficiency Testing Center is a facility that measures the individual feed intake of beef cattle and determines each individual animal’s efficiency. They measure how much each animal eats everyday (using specialized bunks and technologies) and how much each animal gains every day, so they can determine how efficiently each animal converts feed to beef. They are looking for animals that gain the most on the least amount of feed. This data is used as a genetic selection tool to improve the efficiency and sustainability of beef cattle. For the past ten years, they have worked with breeders across the Midwest and with breed associations across the nation to analyze this data.
Following his stop in Diagonal, Gregg will attend a social celebration with local Republicans at the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club.
The come-and-go event will run from 5 -7 p.m. and will feature music, snacks, drinks and activities for the kids.
The event is sponsored by the Ringgold County Republican Central Committee.
