To the editor:
I am a proud American Legion Auxiliary member. Why? Because my husband and three brothers served in WWII and Korea.
My husband served in the Philippines, my oldest brother served in the India-China Burma theater, my middle brother served in New Guinea and my youngest brother served in Korea. Plus I had many cousins who also served, not to mention the many from the city, county, state and country who were drafted and volunteered to keep this great country safe from oppression.
That, dear friends, is why I proudly serve, and am pleading with many of you who have served, or have a family member who has served, to consider joining with us to help serve our country in this small way.
The active Legion and Auxiliary members are few, and the Legionnaires continue to serve their fallen heroes in military honors at their funerals. The Legion, the Sons of the Legion and the Auxiliary invite you to join us in our meetings to learn how you can serve in this noble cause.
We need ACTIVE members to join us in our quest to serve our military veterans and active members of the Armed Forces with the patriotism that we feel as Americans.
As the slogan was in WWII, Uncle Sam pointed his finger toward the camera and said, “WE NEED YOU!”
